Day 1 to 3: The Road Up
Day 1 is a long travel day, so sleep well in Manali. Day 2 is short on purpose. Day 3 is the toughest, with about 330 km and 7 to 9 hours of driving, so start by 5 or 6 am.
Day 4: Rest in Leh
Do not skip this. Keep it light, drink water, and avoid heavy meals. Visit nearby spots only.
Day 5 to 7: Nubra and Pangong
Khardung La is high, so spend only a short time at the top. Nubra offers dunes, camels, and Diskit Monastery. Pangong changes colour throughout the day, and nights are very cold.
Stay Options
Budget guesthouses, mid-range hotels and camps are available in all stops. Camps at Nubra and Pangong have basic facilities, so carry extra layers.
